How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Description. Take your cleaning to the next level with the H20™ HD 5 in 1 Steam Cleaner by Thane™, our most advanced steam cleaner yet. The removable water tank makes filling it simple, and adjusting the steam flow with our digital variable steam control means you`ll always have exactly the right power for every job.
Cleaning procedure to remove limescale: If your H2O X5® begins to produce steam slower than usual or stops producing steam you may need to remove limescale. Limescale can develop over time on the metal parts and greatly affect mop performance.
While some of the cheaper models perform well in our tests, generally you`ll find that the more expensive steam mops have more sophisticated controls and added features (such as multiple cleaning attachments or accessories for cleaning windows or upholstery).
Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor.

Heating Element. A common cause to your cleaner not producing steam can be a failed heating element. As the heater is used to heat up the water, if that has ruptured or burnt out your steam cleaner will not produce any steam. With the water tank filled and switched on the steamer should sound like a boiling kettle.
First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank. Other solutions may cause breakdown of the gasket and/or other parts of the machine.
Steam mops use hot water to loosen and remove dirt, grime, and other buildup from your floors.
You should always use cold water. If you live in a hard-water area, we recommend using distilled water. What floor type can I use the Steam Mop with?
If you use it daily, clean your steamer monthly. If you only use it occasionally, it should be thoroughly cleaned after each use to be ready to use the next time. More frequent cleaning is needed if you use tap water to fill the steamer and don`t empty the water tank after using it.
After you get out your carpet cleaner, fill the clean tank to the line with hot (not boiling) tap water. Hot water does a better job cleaning than cold but, if you boil it, you run the risk of melting parts of your carpet cleaner.
While carpet cleaners are designed to work optimally with carpet shampoos, they will also do the job with a laundry detergent. In fact, this is one of the safest substitutes you can use. Using laundry detergent in a carpet cleaner will provide you with effective results and you won`t even have to use a lot of it.
We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
By using hot, vaporized water to loosen dirt and debris from flooring and other surfaces or materials, steam cleaners are not only a safe and healthy cleaning solution, but a powerfully effective one as well.
Gone are the days of a mop, icky water, and puddles that get left on the floor. Simply fill the compartment with 1/2 cup vinegar, the rest of it with water and if you want, a little squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Then turn on the steamer and mop away.
To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe. For best results, sweep or vacuum your floors prior to cleaning with your steam mop.
Yes, a steam mop is safe on ceramic tile and porcelain tile. Just be sure that the grout has been sealed before using a steam mop on ceramic or porcelain tile.
The spray tip may be clogged. Use a paperclip and insert it into the spray tip to remove a clog. Now plug back in, making sure you are using a working outlet. You will know, as the Ready light will begin to blink when plugged in.
Mix your purchased descaler or mix 1 1/2 oz. of baking soda with one quart of clean water. Fill the empty tank with this mix. Seal the unit and turn the steam cleaner on so that it begins heating.
Removing limescale stains with a steam cleaner

If lime deposits are not yet very thick, they can be removed quite easily with the steam cleaner – without the need for tiresome manual scrubbing.

Do you use a steam mop to clean your floors? If so, adding a few drops of orange, lemon or lavender essential oil on the steam mop cover will not only disinfect the floors, but make your house smell great in the process!!!
Sticky floors happen when you have not passed the mop to remove too much cleaning solution or the wrong cleaning solution. It can also be due to dirty water used in rinsing your mop.
Flooring

Non-carpeted floors are typically vacuumed/swept and mopped with a floor cleaner diluted in either cold or hot water. For most floor types, this is doable because heat does not damage the surface while working on the same principles as mentioned above (with regard to agitating molecules).

A. No, you should not use steam on your face every single day. Although the benefits of steaming face are far too many, steaming everyday can prove to be slightly harsh as the pores will not have enough time to close. Therefore, limit the process to 10 minutes once a week for best results.
