How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

While using your steamer, the steam nozzle should be close to the surface that you are cleaning. This will break down and blast away messes on the surface. Water being left behind is normal as the steam cools and condensation occurs.
Carpets & Rugs

McCulloch`s triangle brush is designed to perform longer, slower strokes allowing the nozzle to get into the carpet and remove all kinds of dirt. The use of hot steam rather than lukewarm water means your carpets will dry much quicker, meaning no accidental soggy footprints!

Welcome to the McCulloch Steam Website

Hot steam blasts away dirt, grease and grime, killing bacteria and germs.

The BISSELL® Symphony All-in-One Steam Cleaner combines a vacuum and steam cleaner into one machine, so you can enjoy the benefits of steam cleaning while also vacuuming your floors. Steam mops, like the Symphony, let you clean your hard floors without a mop and bucket or harsh chemicals – all they take are water!
Not only does the calcium carbonate in tap water stain your clothes, but it also clogs steamers. If the buildup becomes great enough, it can interfere with the flow of heat/steam in the appliance.
Distilled water is a crucial step in proper facial steamer care. Although we never recommend using regular tap water in your steamer, doing so forces you to routinely clean the unit and can shorten its useful life.
When choosing between steam cleaning and shampooing your carpet, you really can`t go wrong with both, but steam cleaning would be the better option. It removes more unseen pests and dirt, and can handle heavy-duty cleaning without making you wait long for drying.
A steam cleaner uses actual steam to clean various types of surfaces, and this steam can damage carpet fibers and remove the protection. A carpet cleaner is designed to force a mixture of hot water and cleaning solution into the carpet to clean deep down.
Steaming is an effective way to get wrinkles out of almost any fabric—it requires less space to use a steamer (especially if you use a handheld steamer), and it takes less time and effort than ironing does. Plus, there are plenty of other benefits—even health related! —to steaming that you can`t get from using an iron.
The steam cleaner is also probably the right approach if you want to avoid the use of chemicals, and the job doesn`t require any special detergents. Conversely, a pressure washer is the best choice if you have a tough job with all sorts of caked-on grease, grime, etc.
Steam cleaners are a wonderful way to deep-clean many types of surfaces since they don`t use harsh chemicals. Hard surfaces easily cleanable with a steam cleaner include countertops, kitchen & bathroom fixtures, some types of flooring, as well as other impervious surfaces.
A good rule of thumb is to have your carpet professionally steam cleaned at least once a year, twice if you seem to track a lot of dirt in. This way you get a good, deep cleaning and don`t let the dirt build up. Vacuum once or twice a week to keep it clean in between your steam cleaning sessions.
Tap water left in a steamer thickens due to calcium carbonate, resulting in a mineral buildup inside the steamer. That buildup eventually causes steamers to foam, which can potentially stain clothes and clog/break the steamer.
Side effects of steam inhalation

There`s a risk of scalding yourself if you make contact with the hot water. The biggest risk is accidentally knocking over the bowl of hot water into your lap, which can cause severe burns in sensitive areas.

Does Distilled Water Expire? No, distilled water doesn`t expire. However, over time it can start to lose quality. To avoid this, it`s important to store distilled water in a sealed container and to use it within a few months of distilling.
No, they aren`t the same. Boiled water is simply water that has had the temperature increased until it reaches its boiling point. This kills a host of bacteria that can make a person sick. Distilled water is water that has been stripped of all impurities, including minerals and microorganisms.
Steam Cleaning

Using carpet extraction is probably the best deep-cleaning method you can use on your carpets. Because it combines hot water with chemicals, it cleans much more than just the surface of your carpet-it can remove dirt and debris that have sunk deep into your carpet.

A steam cleaner does to stubborn dirt which a regular mop can never do without cleaning products. Since a steam mop uses water, it makes the grime and dirt loosen before the mop head absorbs it. Also, steam dries quicker than water, so you don`t have to worry about mold regrowth after you clean.
Detergent left in a carpet, serves as a magnet for new dirt. When finished shampooing, run a tank of clear water over the heavy cleaned areas (e.g. entrances and walkways). This will help remove excess shampoo and keep those areas cleaner for longer. It also helps to rinse out the shampoo from inside in the machine!
Because steam cleaning uses high temperatures, it actually destroys bacteria, viruses, and allergens, which makes it a much more effective cleaning method than others that provide only superficial aesthetic benefits.
Steam cleaning can take anywhere from 8 to 24 hours to completely dry. However, it only takes 4 to 8 hours to dry when carpets are cleaned without the use of traditional steam cleaning methods that use large amounts of water due to their reliance on soaps and shampoos.
Changes In the Steamer Market

The steamer market is a textbook example of Economics 101 — prices go up because demand outpaces supply, and this season, it was no different. However, a number of key market changes put more pressure on supply than usual, which drove prices abnormally higher than expected.

Most cottons, silks, wools and polyesters can be steamed. Waxed jackets, suede and materials that could possibly melt, like plastic, should not be steamed. If you are unsure about a material, check fabric care labels for advice.
Steam has more warmth and vitality than water. Due to its dormant warmth of vaporization, it will produce more burn than boiling water. Steam contains the heat energy of boiling water as well as the latent heat of vaporization.

Polti Vaporetto 2400
ANSWER : The first problem you’ll have is to unscrew the case. You will need a Torx security key -I bought a set from toolspot.co.uk Code PR7424 Toolzone 9pc Security Torx Keys. This unscrews the case. (I think I paid around £7 incl delivery) The problem is the T20 size, which is the one you need is a little too short to reach totally out of the casing, so you’ll have to persevere and turn the keys a quarter turn a time until you uncrew all four. You’ll also need to take unscrew two of the wheels to provide enough area for the key to turn. It took me ages!

Be careful here not to break the screw housings on the case.

Then you’ll probably need to replace the switch – if you’re lucky, you may just need to click the switch back into its housing, but most likely the switch retainers have broken. I have not yet found retailers who supply the exact switch. for the time being I have used a switch I had lying around and made a temporary repair. It works, and I think any switch of the correct size will do (but it needs to have an LED indicator built into it.

I havent yet started looking for the part but I should not think it will be difficult to locate (Maplins etc. would surely have an appropriate switch.

By the way the switch used by Polti is really not very good -its flimsy and breaks too easily imo.

.Hello,
.I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
.I would say you need to call the Hoover manufacturer and they would direct you to a local factory authorized vacuum dealer for the bag replacement – typically the bags and belts are considered wear items and are not covered under the factory warranty but I feel that it is still worth a phone call to see if Hoover Co will replace the bag for you. It will be up to the Hoover Factory Service Center, Question…. Is it for household use or commercial use? So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

McCulloch MC1275 Only steams for a few seconds and stops, repeatedly.
ANSWER : I had the same problem today. It turns out part of the steam hose was kinked. If you feel along the black tubing – this covers the actual steam hose, you may feel a hard spot where the inner hose may have kinked. Mine was near the end so I cut into it, cut out the kinked part, and reattached the hose to the endpiece – where it screws onto the body. If you do have a kink you will at least have to cut through the black tubing – careful not to cut the inner hose; you will see the nylon wrapped hose inside and can try to fix it. I was unable to unkink it without cutting it, you may have better luck, or you can do what I did. If you decide to, once you take apart the endpiece you’ll see how it all goes together, pretty easy to figure out. Alternatively you might be able to buy a new hose through http://www.topinnovations.com

Hope this solves your problem, if you haven’t already. Good luck.
