A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
First, check to make sure the clean tank has water and/or the water & formula mixture in the tank. If your tank is empty, this could be the reason your machine is not spraying. You will need to fill your clean tank again. Reseat the tank and ensure it sits snug on the machine.
Check to see if your clean water tank is empty. The clean water tank also may not be seated properly. The brush window could also not be latched into place. Turn off your machine and check to see if the brush window is secure.
If you still have reduced or no spray it might mean the pump has lost its prime. To fix this, turn the power off and then back on. Wait for one minute, then depress the trigger.
Your Vax carpet cleaner may not be picking up water because the machine has picked up too much grime, and has become blocked up. Check around the head of the carpet cleaner for anything obvious that might make the suction on the Vax weaker, or look for clumps of hair that could be caught in the bristles.
Check the dirty water tank and make sure there are no clogs in the hose below it. Remove the filter and clean debris from both the screen and filter. Also empty the dirty water tank and leave the filter out to dry completely before replacing it.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.

I have a Hoover Platinum carpet cleaner, and it has stopped dispensing cleaning agent and water. This model has a separate tank for water and separate tank for shampoo dispensing. It also has a power hand unit that dispenses shampoo. All along the hand unit has continued to dispense shampoo. Symptom #1, the water tank seemed to be taking on shampoo, as it was getting sudsy. Symptom #2 – On wash mode, nothing would come out, on Rinse mode, sudsy water would come out. Later, symptom #3 – not
Somewhere on the outlet is a control tap thats driven by a rubber band and something is up with this control ,best advice here is put it in the boot of the car and take iot to a hoover dealer ,they will do it seconds for you
I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.
The Hoover Steamvac Widepath will NOT pick up water. The dispenser with cleaner DOES have water. The TANK that would receive the dirty water is NOT full. All tanks are on properly and the machine will still not pick up the used water. I found a tear in the interior hose leading to the receiving tank and repaired throughly with electrical tape. Still will not pick up the water. Any suggestions?
Sounds like a clogged air path (no vacuum action) from the floor pick-up to the collection tank. Take the tanks off and deal with the vacuum problem alone. The collection tank should have a air exit vent–is it clear? Check the interior hose that you repaired–is it clogged? Remove the bottom plate and inspect the air path from it. Because this machine deals with water, clogs can become like concrete! Hope this helps!
I have a Bissell Pro 2x carpet cleaner. The water heats properly as well as spraying the cleaning product. However, when I go to suction the water from the carpets, the 2 in 1 water tank bladder works properly but there is no dirty water outside the bladder. I have only used this carpet cleaner ~ 5 times and in the beginning I had to empty the suctioned water quite frequently as it was dirty and it could not not hold any more water. So I have done 1 room and all the dirt remains in the carpet
Check that the suction cone is not blocked. Check that the filter or hose to the bladder isn’t blocked as well.
Water is not dispensing to clean carpet. Water
The problem is the heater is cloged you can drill it out to clean it
The hoover steam vac 5 brush agitator dispenses water and soap but does not show any return water to dirty water reservoir. The carpet seems damp but not soaked, still a bit troubling no waste water…what up ?
You do not have the needed vacuum on the dirty water intake. Possible causes are:
.1. No adapter sleeve in the back of the dirty water tank (the one that you remove to put the fabric hose adapter in)
.2. The dirty water top is not sealed (cracked, not on correctly)
.3. The intake shoot at the front of the unit is clogged with dirt/hair.
.REMEMBER: This is NOT a vacuum cleaner – it is not designed to remove hair and dust…. ONLY wet dirt. If you fail to vacuum floors just before steam cleaning, the unit will clog up in minutes!!
Cleaner will not dispense the water from the tank. It solution is dispensed but not the water from the blatter. It also picks up water from the carpet.
Check hose for a clog
Pickup water wont pickup the water after putting it down very little comes up into the tank .it worked fine when we baught it but after not useing it for some time it worked now it wont **** water up at all can anybody help.
The clear shroud covering the front of “hood” has two sheet metal type screws at the bottom in front of the brushes, these two screws also hold the little straight brushes ( one on each side) in place. I found one of these screws had broken it’s plastic “socket” and was no longer applying any pressure to the hood, this caused loss of suction and would not pick up any water…You can test this by applying a little pressure to the “clear hood” after you have applied water and shampoo. You should immediately see water entering the pickup reservoir container. I removed the broken plastic “socket” and replaced original screw with a longer wood/sheet metal screw. I think this is a weak point on the cleaner and is easily broken by catching the front lip on any hard object. Hope this helps
