Check both the brush roll and chamber for any large debris that may clog or stop the brush from spinning. If it is damaged or broken, you can buy a replacement on bissell.com. Replace your brush roll by re-inserting. Using the coin again, turn the groove counterclockwise to lock the brush in place.
Unplug your machine to reset the brush. While unplugged, remove the brush window and brush roll from your machine, by pulling the tab. Take out the obstruction that was causing the machine to stop working. Once the obstruction is removed, you may reassemble the brush roll and brush window.
Clear the brush roll of any hair and debris and inspect by placing it on its end and spin. The brush should spin freely. If it doesn`t spin; it may be time to replace.
Check to see if your clean water tank is empty. The clean water tank also may not be seated properly. The brush window could also not be latched into place. Turn off your machine and check to see if the brush window is secure.
Many users face this common issue where the brush tool cursor disappears. This happens when you accidentally press the caps lock button on your keyboard. Turn off the caps lock button by pressing it once again. The cross sign cursor should change into a circular cursor when the brush tool works.
Check to make sure the Vacuum Suction Knob is turned towards “Floor Suction.” Or there could be large debris clogging the brush roll rotation. Your dirt container may not be seated properly or may be full. Press the Tank Release button and remove.
We recommend replacing your Brush Roll every 6 months for best cleaning results.

My carpet cleaner (bissell proheat plus) is not steaming, dispensing cleaner. Seems like there’s a little thingy that should be spinning or turning….. When I work a small area of carpet, it just leaves behind dry blobs of carpet gunk like pet hair. I had to use a carpet sweeper to clean up. FYI – I filled the cleaning fluid container and after trying to clean the carpet, it did empty out but the carpet isn’t wet. Any tips? The manual doesn’t help.

I know how to use the cleaner, it has always worked, But now, no water is being discharged to the carpet. I turn it on, squeeze the trigger, but nothing comes out. The wheel that is suppose to spin (to indicate that water is being discharged) is not spinning. Everything else works. I.e. the suction works, and the hand held accessories work.

We have a Bissell Proheat Cleanshot 2X Model 9500 Steam carpet cleaner. The first time we used it things were great. The second time we used it it left tracks in the carpet. After vacuuming the carpet about 10 or 12 times, the tracks are still embedded in the carpet – HELP!!!! We’re read and reread the manual and contacted customer service and received no help.
ANSWER : First things first. It’s only the second time you have used the machine, so it must be fairly new. If you have a receipt and the unit is less than a year old you should take it to an authorized Bissell repair center and have the machine inspected under warranty.
