Here`s how to set your robot up so it can take care of your whole home. To create a map for a new floor plan of your home, place the Roomba somewhere on that floor and send it on a job to clean everywhere. You can press the Clean button on the robot vacuum or start the job from the iRobot app.
It works by feel every time, adapting to changes in furniture and other objects. Thus, you should have no issues changing floors. However, you will want to relocate both the Roomba and its docking station when changing floors. The unit should be started from the docking station, so it has a place to return `home` to.
After charging for 85 minutes, your robot will automatically return to where it left off and resume the cleaning job. To pause your robot during a cleaning job, press CLEAN on the robot itself or press PAUSE in the iRobot® HOME App.
Roomba will navigate around or under furniture as it cleans. Roomba can also use a random bounce pattern, where it will move around the room until it hits an object. When it does, it changes directions and moves elsewhere, ensuring the entire room gets cleaned.
All vacuum robots have cliff sensors as a safety requirement. Cliff sensors use infrared light, which is reflected from objects. The objects then send a signal back to the receiver in the vac. If the vac does not receive any signal, the receiver detects no object and changes the path.
Most owners believe that running their robot vacuums four times per week is sufficient to keep the floors dust-free. However, if you have children or pets, you should use your robot vacuum more frequently. Daily vacuuming is recommended if you suffer from seasonal allergies.
Wheels are the most common way to move a bot. For wheeled robots, their drive geometry is defined by how each one is steered. There are a lot of choices. The most common way to move a robot is with differential steering.
Unlike a normal cleaner, Roomba moves itself around your room with two large tractor-style wheels, each one independently driven by a separate electric motor. The wheels can turn in opposite directions, which means Roomba can literally “spin on a dime” and clean almost any space it can drive into.
Roombas are ideal for hardwood and carpet. You can be confident that they`ll handle everyday messes in your home on any surface. However, some models are better than others for carpet; we`ll discuss the top five.
5. It works well in tight spaces. Most apartments are small, and using a traditional vacuum cleaner can be challenging mainly because of hard to reach spots. However, it is easy to clean with a robot vacuum cleaner as it requires a small space, which means extensive cleaning is possible.
Robot vacuums will seldom get stuck on low-pile rugs and carpets, but they can get tangled in a rug`s tassels or stuck in a high-pile carpet, like a shag carpet. To prevent your robot vacuum from getting stuck, you can roll the tassels underneath the rug or tape them down.
Are robot vacuum mops really worth it? For moderately-sized hardwood or groutless flooring, robot mops can help keep the floor dust-free and looking good. They also cut down on the number of times that you will need to mop.
All Roombas are equipped with cliff sensors on the underside which detect if it`s near a ledge, stair or any other drop off. Roomba will back safely away, every time.
Error nine (9) means your s Series Roomba bumper is stuck and is not moving freely. Your robot may exhibit behavior such as backing up or spinning in an unexpected manner. Briskly tap the Bumper several times to dislodge any debris that may be trapped underneath, and then press CLEAN to restart.
The Roomba® j series robots utilize a front-facing camera and a front-facing LED, allowing the robot to accurately see and avoid objects on the floor during a cleaning run. The camera uses the front-facing LED to view objects on the floor better, but is not bright enough to allow the robot to run in the dark.
Roomba® can also learn your home as it cleans. It typically takes three (3) to five (5) cleaning missions or Mapping Runs to generate a fully developed Imprint™ Smart Map that you can then customize and use.
Roomba® uses Dirt Detect™ Technology that allows it to focus its cleaning effort in dirtier areas. When your robot finds more dirt than usual concentrated in one (1) area, it will activate Dirt Detect™ and work harder to clean the same area until the sensors detect fewer dirt particles in that particular area.
Clean the dock`s charing contacts

If the contacts get too dirty, the vacuum will have a tough time getting a solid charging connection, and it may be unable to dock as a result. The best way to clean the Roomba`s charging contacts is with a damp melamine foam, like Mr. Clean`s Magic Eraser.

Your robot probably has optical sensors, which require ambient light to operate. If you find that your vacuum is getting stuck a lot, don`t schedule your cleanings at night. Try 9 am, just after you leave for work (unless you`re working from home).
A traditional, standard vacuum uses around 1.4kWh of power per hour; the humble robot charges on about 60-90 watts (over three hours), with one charge fuelling roughly an hour of cleaning. It`s a no brainer! However, it`s just not as simple as all that.
Robot floor vacuums take around 30-45 minutes to efficiently clean a medium-sized room. However, the cleaning time can vary depending on the size of the room, level of clutter, type of flooring, and suction power of the vacuum.

ANSWER : I am sure there is a safety switch causing the switch not to come on,make sure the top is on correctly, and latches are good and tight.

I have a Kirby G5 vacuum that when light pressure is put on the handle it moves forward but in a jerky movement. Like the drive is engaging and disengaging. If you keep forward pressure on the handle the jerkiness does not happen. Is there an adjustment to correct this.
ANSWER : I hope adjusting position of the position of the “pivot spring assembly” will help. but you may have to disassemble entire slide assembly to clean it up if it still does not work smoothly. See instructions HERE (adjustment is explained in step #6). Try to “play” with screws #4 and if it does not help – clean slid.

Good Luck
