How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Our customers love their Electrolux vacuum cleaners, and it`s easy to see why. Electrolux vacuum cleaners are known for their superior quality, suction power, and durability. Some customers noted that their old Electrolux vacuums lasted them over 30 years– that`s no small feat!
Possible Causes: The brush roll is blocked. The cleaner might be overheated. The battery is empty (last LED blinks)
Best Overall: Dyson V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum

From small to large homes with pets, kids, carpet, hard floors and everything in between, Dyson`s V15 Detect model is a solid overall cordless vacuum that will satisfy the needs of most households.

The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
If your vacuum cleaner keeps turning off, this could be due to the following reasons: Blockages – check the hose and head for any obstructions. Filter – always check your filters, if these are clogged this could be causing the vacuum cleaner to work harder and lose suction power.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.
Drain Pump Guard Filter

Some Electrolux models feature a drain pump filter. It is usually located behind a small panel at the bottom right of the machine. You should be able to open the panel with your fingers or a flathead screwdriver. Before unscrewing the filter, make sure to put a towel down.

Most people don`t realize the importance of cleaning and replacing their vacuum filters. But your vacuum is just like any other appliance in your home, it requires maintenance. If the filter isn`t clean, it can impact the performance of the vacuum.
Founded in Sweden in 1919 by entrepreneur Axel Wenner-Gren, Electrolux has shaped living for the better for 100 years by reinventing what great taste, care and wellbeing experiences for our consumers. This is our story.
AEG, Electrolux, Electrolux Grand Cuisine, Electrolux Professional, Eureka, Frigidaire, Molteni, Westinghouse, Zanussi. Electrolux products sell under a variety of brand names (including its own), and are primarily major appliances and vacuum cleaners intended for home consumer use.
The best vacuum ever constructed on Earth was done at CERN at reported to achieve a density of about 1000 atoms per cubic centimeter. While this is astonishingly low, it is still over 2 million times more dense than interstellar space!
What is a Good Suction Power for a Vacuum Cleaner? An upright cordless vacuum cleaner should have at least 100 air watts to effectively clean a variety of floor surfaces, with the best Samsung vacuum cleaner reaching up to 210W*.
How much should you spend on a vacuum cleaner? Reserve at least $200 for a standard vacuum cleaner with quality parts. If your budget can`t stretch beyond that, then you`ll still be able to gain a good appliance that will last, as long as you keep on top of cleaning and maintenance.
It`s important to remember that while it may be tempting to save money by purchasing a lower-priced vacuum cleaner, high-quality products are often worth the higher price due to their durability, performance, and effectiveness.
In North America, the Electrolux name was long used by vacuum cleaner manufacturer Aerus LLC, originally established to sell Swedish Electrolux products. In 2000, Aerus transferred trademark rights back to the Electrolux Group, and ceased using the Electrolux name in 2004.

Electrolux Epic Series 6500 SR. The machine is 15 yr. old & is working beautifully. However, when operating it emits a terrible stink, like cat *****. I’ve changed bags & filters but no ch
ANSWER : You need to have the vacuum cleaned out. If you are good with tools, just remove the motor and fans assembly, take the fans off and wash them. Brush ALL dirt out of the housing and reassemble. Your Electrolux dealer can do this but it isn’t cheap. I used to be the service manager for my area. Since it isn’t under warranty, you can have ANY reliable vacuum cleaner shop give a good cleanout. NEVER put anything into the cleaner to make it smell good. Electrolux cleaners get their power by having a straight through suction. The air goes through the motor. Adding smelly things can crystallize onto the motor and burn it out.

Repair manual for Electrolux EPIC 6500 SR
ANSWER : I don’t have a manual for these but the trickiest thing about these units is taking them apart. If you have an Aerus/Electrolux dealer near you, it’s not a bad investment to have them install the motor for you. You would probably receive a warranty with the work, and the things a long time. Great return on investment. But if you are determined to do it yourself, open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl coverd strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl seperates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come of relatively easily, and eveything will be exposed. Good Luck!!

Our Electrolux Epic Series 6500 SR reads the bag is full and shuts down even though the bag was just changed
ANSWER : This is most probably due to a worn out or clogged Control Valve Assembly.
.Detach the hose and see if it runs. If it does, place hand over hole. If it shuts off, CVA is probably the cause. A clogged CVA is generally due to using generic/made-to-fit bags. Genuine bags have “Home Solutions” printed on them.
.You can try turning the dial all the way to the large dot, then try to run the vacuum.
.If it is the CVA, you’ll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have their service tech repair or replace the part. I recommend a service and clean of the vacuum at the same time. This will extend the life of the vacuum.

Electrolux Epic 6500 SR series
ANSWER : Ok i found a solution for my Electrolux Epic 6000 which had the exact same symptoms as you describe. I fixed it by disabling the “bag full sensitivity adjustor” (BFSA for short, for the lack of a better term). For that i opened the case, removed the hose that was preventing me from opening complety the casing, unscrewed the transaparent BFSA mechanism.
.
.Here’s the walkthrough:
.
.- Open the case: Open the top part of the vacuum (where the bag is)
.- Remove the 2 side rubber by sliding them from the back to the front of the vaccuum
.- Remove the “plastic cap” at the end of the vacuum (you can slightly lift the vacuum top part to make it easier)
.- Now unplug a small air hose to be able to open the case completely.
.- Find the BFSA device and unscrew it.
.- Now give your vacuum a try… it worked for me.

Electrolux USA sold the brand name back to AB Electrolux of Sweden a few years ago and there is no relation between the two.
You may also find a common component of a different color at a Tri Star dealer as they shared some power head and hose technology in the era of the EPIC although they don`t tell people that
