The bottom line is that Shop-Vac units shouldn`t be utilized without a filter. The vacuum will work without one, but it might not work better. Numerous other consequences might occur. You may create an even bigger mess than the one you needed to clean.
A foam sleeve is also called a wet filter. You can use this when vacuuming up wet objects or liquids, such as draining a toilet of water. Though you may not necessarily need a foam sleeve when vacuuming water, it can also protect the motor. You can usually use a shop vac for water without a filter.
A: Shop vac filters can last for 8 to 10 uses, but you have to replace them when they start deforming. You should replace the shop vac filter whenever you notice any wear, rips, or tears from the debris. Dust clogging or staining is also a sign that your shop vac filter needs to be washed or replaced.
When you are picking up fine dust you need a HEPA or high efficiency cartridge filter, a cartridge filter with a HEPA collection bag or a cartridge filter with a high efficiency disposable filter bag. These filters are not available for all vacs.
Since the filter is made of paper, you can clean it with water, but you should let it completely dry before reuse. You can also stock up and save by purchasing this filter in a two-pack.
The Shop-Vac Filter Cleaning Process. Please note that the steps here do not involve washing the filter with water and will work best for standard cartridge filters with a cylindrical shape. Since these filters use paper elements, washing them with water can destroy it.
You can rinse the filter in water, tap excess dust off of it or remove some dust with a vacuum, but this can definitely damage the mesh of fibers that allows the filter to remove particles from the air. Even if the filter looks undamaged, some of the fibers will be broken or stretched out.
Shop vacuum, also called shop vac, is an advanced vacuum cleaner that is not only able to pick up solid waste like the regular vacuum cleaner but can also be used to suck up liquid content. Apart from drying off wet surfaces, shop vacuums can be used to drain small bodies of water like pools and aquariums.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Or, you can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the manufacturer’s website and or phone #. Go Ahead. Use Us. On off switch stopped working 3rd one to do so this one cannot be returned to old ? model QPV10.5b nothing on shop vac site and nothing comes up on Digi-key site really do not want to buy 150.00 vac again but cannot find on off switch!

ANSWER : Use a higher amp rated switch. If this is not available, then solder and insulate the wires where switch should be, then install an aftermarket in-line switch.
Our problem with our Rainbow E Series is that it has sucked water up and blown it out through the lower part of the hepa filter, making the filter wet and dirty. This had happened before and the repair shop did not see any problems with the machine, so we replaced the filter and were very carful not to overfill the tank and to change the water often. Now it has happened again and ruined another filter. Do you know what could be causing this issue? Can the filter be cleaned or will a new one be

1. There is no reason to waste money on an EXPENSIVE replacement. While some people may like the fact that something that may be brand new may work better, this is not always the case.

2. You can easily set the filter out to try as long as there is NO WET ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, if so, you will be facing electrical damage

3. Once you have performed a natural or sun dry on the old filter, ensure to check your unit for anything that may have caused the back clog.

4. Back clogs for your model are often times associated with a BUILD UP of dirt and HAIR. YOU may always use pressure air for example at a gas station to flush out the build up.

5. Other occasions, users accidently build the vac WRONG causing continual backup and water going where it is NOT suppose to go.

ANSWER : C.R.Laurence model GO118 filter is available through INTRO HOME IMPROVEMENTS and AMAZON.COM. This filter is made to fit the Genie 1.1hp Jetvac. Problem solved, thanks anyway.
Shop vac my craftsman vac is blowing dust out the difuser filter. Have cleaned the filters out. Any other suggestions?
