The suction motor creates vacuum pressure and suction by rotating a motor fan. The impeller rotates at an incredibly high speed of about 30,000 to 35,000 RPM. Cleaning your vacuum after every use
For bagless vacuum cleaners, empty the dust bin, and clean the cleaning head and brush rollers. You can remove tangled hair and threads from the roller head with scissors. If the floor head has a brush roller, you can usually remove it for easy cleaning.
First, check that the cord is properly connected to the vacuum cleaner (again, this is surprisingly easy to overlook) and that there are no splits in the rubber. If the cord is damaged, it will need immediately repairing or replacing. The on/off switch can break over time and need replacing.
A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.
If you need to vacuum bare floors only, you do not need a powerhead or a power nozzle as it`s called. If you will be using it on carpet, be sure that you purchase one with a power nozzle, which is a motorized beater.
The suction power is to be measured at the end of the tube of a complete vacuum cleaner (i.e. with tube, hose and filters – but without nozzle). Some manufacturers show the results from measurements made at the suction of the actual vacuum cleaner.

Step 5: Wash Vacuum Parts
Place the removed vacuum parts in a sink or tub filled with warm, soapy water. Soak and rinse everything well with hot water. Use a faucet sprayer to quickly remove tough dirt and sticky residue. If needed, scrub with a sponge or microfiber cloth.
One of the easiest ways to increase vacuum cleaner suction is to empty the dust bag or container. Dust containers need to have enough space for airflow, otherwise, they could get clogged and have less suction power. Regularly check your dust compartment and empty or change it when it`s already 70-80% full.

The average life expectancy of a mid-range vacuum cleaner is about six years. You can fix or replace things like blocked filters, jammed brush rolls, frayed hoses, worn-out stick vac batteries and broken accessories yourself.
Low compression, an intake leak or tight valves also can cause low vacuum at idle. If the vacuum reading fluctuates within the normal range-the gauge needle bounces around a lot-uneven compression (broken rings or leaking valves or head gasket in one or two cylinders) is a likely culprit.
Vacuum System Failures:
Occurs when the vacuum pump fails or when both intakes are blocked.
Plug the power cord into your power source. Now arc a wire across the low voltage terminals. You should see a little spark when you touch the terminals and you should hear a “click” inside the board. If there is no spark, then the transformer is bad.
Attachments are quite easy to clean – just fill a sink or bucket with warm water and about a teaspoon of dish soap and drop them in. For any attachment that has hair stuck in it, you can use your cleaning toothbrush to brush it away.
The roller brush makes it possible to get dirt out of carpets. The roller brush is the combination of a belt, a roller, and sometimes a small vacuum head motor. The roller spins, and the bristles attached to it sweep up debris that then gets sucked into the dirt container of the vacuum.

To fix a clog in the vacuum, whether it is a canister or bag, use your finger to feel for a clog. Pull as much of it out as you can and discard.
Vacuum pump oil is essential in keeping your vacuum pump operational. It lubricates the pumping machine, while also collecting contaminants and moisture from the evacuated systems.
To get excellent suction power, have a higher HP. If you have already vacuuming stuff, any 1-2 hp vac will do for removing dirt, san, and all types of debris. You are recommended to go for 4-5 hp.
Any negative pressure significantly below standard atmospheric pressure (760 Torr/mmHg, 29.9 inHg or 14.7 PSI) is considered a vacuum.
