I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead… the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope
ANSWER : Hi. On some models, one switch controls all of the power. Your issue, which is no working switch is almost certainly a blown triac on the circuit board in the canister – kenmore part number KC86WBZRZ000

Brush does not turn on my vaccum
ANSWER : If there is no suction when you disconnect the beater bar assembly near the hand hold where you grab the vacuum, then there may be either a restriction in the vacuum line between there and the vacuum section (that rolls around behind you), or the vacuum line from the handle point to the rollaround section is not properly connected. This all assumes the vacuum motor in the rollaround is running.
The beater bar section does nothing but cause dirt particles to be sucked into the vacuum system. The vacuum or suction is created in the rollaround unit.

Took my Miele Solaris canister vac in for repair as it wouldn’t turn on. The repairman said to come back the next day for the estimate. ANSWER : When you say ‘has no power’ do you mean , no suction? He may have left the suction hose of the motor and that’s why it sounds different. I would call him back and request that he put the machine back to it’s original ‘state’ as it was when you brought it in for the assessment. Be sure to be as courteous as possible, not to put him on the defensive. Explain you financial situation and let him know that you would like to ‘come back’ at a later date. I’m using Miele Medivac vacuum and I just sucked in a small plastic eye drop container by accident(I sometimes take off the brush part to **** in ‘small enough’ articles). And it is jammed in the part where the plastic hose connector bends. I think I can take it out if I can just disconnect the long necked plastic hose connector that connects the metal wand part and the hose part.
Is it designed to be disconnected or should I not even try it?
