How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

The standard tension is 4. Janome recommends a range of 2 – 6 for straight stitches.
Tension Basics

If you have serger knobs, remember “righty tighty; lefty loosey.” If you have lay-in discs or dials, turn them up to tighten and down to loosen. Make one adjustment at a time and then serge to see if the stitch quality has improved. Making too many adjustments at one time can be confusing!

The narrow hem is a good choice for medium-heavy weight fabrics, as these fabrics generally resist “rolling”. This hem is typically slightly wider than the rolled hem due to the fact that the fabric isn`t being rolled, but it is narrower than using a regular 3-thread stitch as an edge finish.
What Thread Does It Need? Your normal sewing machine thread can be used in an overlocker. You might think it takes special thread because you see the giant cones on the machines, but it`s just a larger quantity of sew-all thread.
The most basic classification is by the number of threads used in the stitch. Industrial overlock machines are generally made in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 thread formations. Each of these formations has unique uses and benefits: 1-thread: End-to-end seaming or “butt-seaming” of piece goods for textile finishing.
The most basic serger stitch is the overlock stitch. A 4-thread or 3-thread overlock stitch is the most common stitch used for seams. The 4-thread overlock is perfect stitch for sewing knits because it is strong and flexible. Using a 3-thread overlock is a great way to overcast and finish raw edges of woven fabrics.
Most sewing machines have tension dials that run from 0 to 9. So for normal projects and standard stitches, your sewing machine`s tension should be 3, 4, or 5. 4.5 is usually ideal, but some machines may not have that option.
The dial settings run from 0 to 9, so 4.5 is generally the `default` position for normal straight-stitch sewing. This should be suitable for most fabrics.
Understanding Serger Tension

As long your looper stitches are nicely meeting at the edge, your tension is correct. If the stitches are a little far from the edge, it`s most likely that the knife is cutting too much of the fabric. Adjust the cutting width to a slightly higher number and test the stitch.

The dial settings run from 0 to 9, so 4.5 is generally the `default` position for normal straight-stitch sewing. This should be suitable for most fabrics.

I’m trying to get my S7000 Miele to stand upright an lock in this position. It wont , i tried to see if foot release was jammed but
cant tell it doesnt seem to release to let it move upright an lock in again..help
ANSWER : There is a rear dust cover that sometimes gets stuck, this will make it almost impossible to lock the handle up. First locate the cover which is at the rear right above the wheels. It’s about 2″x8″ and ribbed vertically and slides up behind the rear panel of the lower body. If it’s in there and stuck, just realign it with the 2 grooves on each side or remove it completely; it is a dust shield after all. The best fix is to replace the rear panel and dust shield and they are ordered together and the cost is fairly low. Also check the alignment of the rear body panel at the bottom There are 2 tabs that protrude down about and inch on each side, the one closest to the handle release lever sometimes gets bent and causes the unit to jam. If this does not help there is one more solution involving the rear wheel assembly. check to see that the rear wheel axel is straight, meaning both wheels are parallel at all times while releasing the handle. If the axel is crooked, the wheel assembly must be replaced and you should have a Miele service center order the part and do it for you.
