About Oreck

With nearly 50 years as an industry leader in the home cleaning business, Oreck Corporation has earned its reputation for making clean easy. Headquartered in Glenwillow, Ohio, Oreck is also the first and only major vacuum brand to bring customers a limited lifetime warranty.

It can be used on all surfaces including carpet, wood, laminate and tile with no manual height adjustment. Weighing about 9 pounds*, it`s lightweight and covers a 12″ wide area which makes cleaning easy and quick.
David Oreck, the New Orleans entrepreneur who after serving on a B-29 bomber during World War II founded the vacuum cleaner company that bore his name, died Wednesday at his Mississippi home. His death came after a brief illness, according to his wife, Jan Oreck.
Oreck died on February 15, 2023, at his home in Mississippi. He was 99.
Oreck Vacuum bags available for all Oreck upright and canister vacuums. Oreck XL is one of the most popular Oreck vacuum cleaners but there are two different types of bags that fit XL models (with bag dock or without bag dock) so it is important to use your model number to determine the correct bags for your machine.
The choice of canister vs. upright vacuums depends heavily upon your usage, personal preference, and budget. Canister vacuums are usually quieter, provide better suction for bare floors, and cost more. Upright vacuums, on the other hand, are efficient carpet cleaners, less expensive, and easier to move and store.

Local vacuum repair shop replaced motor in Oreck XL 2600HH and now the lights blow out immediately upon powering up the machine. I believe the wires for the lights were mis-wired to the terminal blades on the motor housing. is there a wiring diagram available to properly connect the wires to the motor housing?
ANSWER : Hello. if this repair just occurred return this vacuum to that repair shop as they owe you a valid repair. I agree that they caused the lights blowing out problem. They must repair this for no charge. If you work on it yourself they will blame you. Joe

Trying to attatch the wires from the light kit to the fan but the blue and white wires from the fan have white caps on them covering the wire. Do these need to be removed in order to attach the wires with the wire nuts? If so, how are these white plastic caps removed?
ANSWER : They’re called “wire nuts”. Turn them counterclockwise to remove, lay the wires you need to join side by side with the ends of the bared sections even and screw the nut on.

ANSWER : Check the cord to make sure you have continunity throw both leads, check them at the cord reel, there are 2 wires hooked up to it, if not then the cord is bad. Check the swith also, the next cause would be the speen control mounted on the motor, part #04416342, sells for around $85. If your motor checks ok, then it most likely the speed control, they go out quite often.
