We have a series e rainbow cleaner. my wife had been using it i turned off and turned the canister up sie down to get the serial number. it would not turn back on.we need a new hose and thats why i was looking for the serial num. it has a rocker switch and the motor will work on low but will not run on the suction side. i have checked the wiring harnesses out as best i could without taken it all apart. im wondering if it may be the switch. it started once and then stopped.
ANSWER : There is one way to verify if it is the switch. It’s kind of dangerous though, but not too bad.You need an extra piece of wire, fairly thick.I would use 4 guage myself.Hold it with pliers, just in case it gets hot.Turn the switch on and hold the wire to the terminals to bypass the switch. If it works fine bypassed, the switch is bad.If it does not, there is something else wrong. From what you described,it most likely sounds like the switch though. We also have an e series. It has like an 8 year warranty I think???Did you check your warranty status or do you know for sure it is over.
.Good luck! Greg

The Vaccum is not turning on when i plug the hose into the wall. The hoover system will turn on when i turn the switch on at the base and wont go off till i turn the switch off. But it will not come on automatically when i put the hose in to the wall connections.
Many Thanks
Linda
ANSWER : You can test this out by taking a small metal spoon and with the bottom side of the spoon insert it into the vac outlet on the wall. you want to touch the two metal pins inside the vac outlet to test if the unit is the problem or the hose is the problem.
.
.If the unit starts, the hose should have a 3 year warranty on it. I recommend you have your nearest beam dealer check it out.
.
.If the unit does not start, it has a 7 or 10 year warranty, the circuitry should be replaced. Again have your nearest beam dealer check it out.

Our dustbuster (dont’ have model number with me-sorry) won’t turn off when I pull back on the switch handle. ANSWER : If you can provide a model number, I can check availability of the switch and can either order it for you, or supply the B&D part number and you can order it from most local vacuum shops in your area or from Black & Decker direct online: http://www.blackanddeckerservicenet.com/servicenet_home.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Infinity Vaccum by Shark, model number NV31COS, will not start. The vacuum was running just fine until it grabbed the edge of a curtain. Turned it off to release the suction. Turned it back on and was working fine. About a minute later the vacuum was making an odd noise. Every 2 seconds or so it would “heave” (lack of a better word) then go away, then come back and so on. Turned the vacuum off and checked for blockage, none that could be seen or felt, and now the vacuum won’t turn. Any suggestio

Hoover on off switch won’t turn off. I have to unplug the vacuum to stop it. I have dismantled the handle and now I can’t get the inditation in the handle to fit over the little silver knob. I saw there was an on/off switch under the handle that is controlled by a piece of the handle.
#1 question for the manufacturer is why don’t they put the switch on the outside instead of having gimicks that turn it on and off… arghhhhhhhh
ANSWER : Don’t know what model you have, but sounds like you will need to replace the switch. As far as your question, you will have to contact the manufacture for an answer. We only provide solutions to your problem and a model number would have helped.
