A vacuum cleaner, also known simply as a vacuum or a hoover, is a device that causes suction in order to remove dirt from floors, upholstery, draperies, and other surfaces. It is generally electrically driven.
For the electrical appliance that cleans surfaces through suction, North Americans tend to use vacuum cleaner, or just vacuum, and Britons tend to use hoover. Both words also function as verbs, inflected vacuumed, vacuuming, hoovered, and hoovering. By metaphorical extension, hoover also means to consume completely.
Check that the brush bar is clean and not damaged

If the cleaner becomes noisy or starts vibrating, it may be because some debris has got tangled around the brush roll or agitator situated in the bottom of the cleaner.

Twist the lid until the arrows line up and open up the container to get to the hepa filter. Take the filter out and brush the dirt out, once a month wash the filter in warm water. Please make sure it is thoroughly dry before popping it back in – this may take around 24 hours.
The major types of vacuum belts are determined by their different shapes. As vacuum designs have improved over the years, new belt shapes have been developed to increase both their durability and their ability to transfer power from the vacuum`s motor.
Underneath the cleaner is a brush bar that is driven by a rubber belt. It spins around sweeping and beating the dirt out of the carpet and up into the cleaner. The belt will stretch and wear out so it should be replaced once per year or sooner as a precaution if you feel the cleaner is not sweeping up effectively.
Vacuum belts work to spin a vacuum`s brush roller and/or, on some self-propelled models, to turn a vacuum`s wheels. Whatever the style of vacuum, this repair will take placein the machine`s brushroll area.
Introduction: Duct Tape Vaccuum Belt

Have you ever broken a belt on your vaccuum and didn`t have a chance to buy a new one? You can make your own out of duct tape for a TEMPORARY fix. This belt is for TEMPORARY USE ONLY, you might damage your vaccuum if you overuse this belt.

The Hoover Company is a home appliance company founded in Ohio, United States.
Home experts recommend that carpets and rugs be vacuumed at least twice a week, and more often in high-traffic areas. If pets are in the home, daily vacuum cleaning is strongly recommended to remove dirt, hair, dander, and the smaller microscopic allergens that are invisible to the naked eye.
Better for allergies – Bagged vacuum cleaners are much better for allergy sufferers because there is no risk of this nasty bacteria getting released back into the air when you empty it. If you or your family suffer from pollen, dust or pet allergies, we highly recommend a bagged vacuum cleaner.
In general, Hoover vacuums tend to have fewer bells and whistles but also come in at a much lower price tag. In comparison, the Dyson models offer exceptional cleaning performance and top-of-the-line technology, but also can cost quite a bit more in some cases.
The two main indicators to determine vacuum power performance are water lift and airflow. The water lift is measured in mmH2O, mbar or kPa. It represents the suction force and is the reference parameter for vacuuming liquids and heavy materials. The airflow is measured in m3/h or in l/s.
This means it is best to choose a vacuum cleaner with a noise output that is less than 70 dB. However, the noise levels of vacuum cleaners fall between 75dB to 85dB.
Check the Rotator Brush and Wheels

Sometimes pieces of string or other objects get wrapped around your vacuum`s rotating brush or around the wheels of the vacuum. Unplug your vacuum. Turn it over and have a look at the wheels and brush. If you see any pieces of string or objects lodged there, remove them.

When you use a vacuum cleaner without a HEPA filter, these particles are stirred up and put back out into the air through your vacuum`s exhaust. Regular filters can`t remove these harmful particulates and this puts the people in your home at risk.
Wash your HEPA filter with warm water and allow it to dry if your model specifically states that water cleaning is safe. You can also soak your filter in hot water if it is extremely dirty. Clean non-washable, permanent HEPA filters using a vacuum to remove dust and debris.
Simply put, the biggest edge a HEPA 13 filter has over a washable type is its incredible effectiveness in purifying the air. It`s a powerful way to maintain indoor air quality and ensure that it`s safe to breathe, giving it a serious leg-up over washable filters.
There are three common V belt types: Classical V-belt (classified by their dimensions from A to E), Narrow V series (ranked by their sizes 3V, 5V, and 8V), and light-duty Fractional Horsepower belt (classified by their dimensions 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L). The letter X classifies their counterpart cogged belt.
V-belt cross sections can be identified by their top width and depth dimensions. For example, a v-belt with a top width of 21/32” and a depth of 7/16” is a “B” belt. You can also use our Browning Belt Rule that includes a gauge to help easily identify belt type.
A V-belt is a drive belt that runs off a crank and pulley system. It typically moves between one or two engine systems, and many older vehicles require several V-belts to power the different systems in the engine. V-belts are less common today, for a few reasons.

Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled V Belt
ANSWER : I had this same problem with the V belt on my Hoover Vaccuum..
.There are three (3) basic things that will cause the brush roll not to spin..
.1. When handle is upright, brush roll is OFF..2. When switch is set for HARD surface, brush roll is OFF..3. Broken/worn FLAT belt or V Belt, brush roll will not spin.
.
.I noticed that the brush roll was not spinning when my vacuum was set for CARPET. After removing the cover I noticed that the V belt was loose, I thought the belt was worn so I purchased a correct replacement belt and installed it, but the new belt was also loose and when I turned the large flat belt pulley it did not turn the V belt pulley at the same time..
.I double checked the surface setting and I had the vacuum switch set for carpet, but still when I released the handle out of the upright position the brush roll would still not spin..
.My aggravation finally led me to this posting on FixYa’s website..
.The first thing I did was checked the screw to the left of the V belt as suggested by ejmjr5 and this did nothing to solve the problem or create more tension on the V belt, even when the upright handle was not in the upright position..
.After playing around with the surface setting control switch/nob I notice that when I moved the switch out of the HARD surface setting and over to CARPET, I had thought that the switch was set for CARPET as it visually appeared, but I was not pushing the switch over hard enough to click it into the CARPET setting mode..
.VOILA, the brush roll now spins correctly even though the V belt seams to be too loose for the pulley..
.You really have to force the switch into the CARPET setting. Be sure that you hear the switch/nob click into place..
.Now you can effectively clean up after that hangover of a party!.
.Burp!

Windtunnel belt I have a new Hoover Windtunnel canister. The belt keeps coming off. It happened a couple weeks ago (several times after putting the belt back on) so I assumed I might need a new belt as it might have dried out at the store. I ordered new belts and today I used it for about an hour and the belt came off again, twice. There doesn’t seem to be anything to hold the belt on the stem as it seems to slip off. I have tried it centered, to the left and to the right….can you help. I am v
ANSWER : I’ve successfully used a compatible belt – Royal 104425001 .It’s still new, but for the time being at least – it works.

Belts I have a Hoover self-propelled windtunnel, purchased 6-04. It gets light use. I have replaced the v belt 3 times, once under warranty, and it must be replaced again. It appears to be in very good condition, but is stretched too big. When I purchased 2 v belts a year ago, one was already too stretched, but when my Dad took it back, the salesman put it on another model and said it was fine (Dad never mentioned this to me). Is there a way to adjust the vacuum to hold the belt tighter? Do t
ANSWER : It is the flat belt that gets stretched and should be replaced at least every 6 months. The V belt wears down so it won’t it right in the brush roll V. Maybe the belt tensioner wheel has a problem, sometimes they get hook up and won’t engage the V belt. Check the brush roll also, if where the V belt rides in is covered up with belt, replace it. There is no adjustment, doesn’t need it if everything is working the way it should.

Is there any way to repair or replace the belt GUIDE on the inside of the belt compartment of a ’97 Hoover Wind Tunnel (not self-propelled)? It became twisted when a belt broke and now the belt rubs against it and sounds really weird, and I’m sure new belts will continue to break.. This guide is a long piece of molded material (part of the compartent wall) to keep the belt from coming off the pulley. It also had a sort of metal clip on it. It was loose and I took it off because of the way the pa
ANSWER : Honestly you should take it to a vac.shop they can fix any vac.

Brush does not roll. Flat belt and other belt are good. The other thicker belt (called V belt?) does not have tension with the brush roll. How do I make sure it is engaged? Is there a fix?

Settings are in “Carpet”, “Roll-on”, etc. Cleand all hair and bags/filters already.

ANSWER : These machines had a defective switch and a bulletin was sent out to all service depots. If you contact any Hoover Warranty Depot, they will replace the switch, wiring harness and tool receiver under a no-charge warranty. It doesn’t matter how old it is, but it must be listed in the serial number listing as one of the defective machines. It is possible that the switch just failed, as any switch can, and that your machine is not one of the affected models of the early switch, which means that they would charge for the repair work. You can go to www.hoover.com and check the serial number to see if your’s is one of the defective ones. Other wise, you can buy a switch and install it yourself or have a repair shop do it.

Brushes are not rotating, V-belt seems too loose
ANSWER : V-belt suppose to be loose (according the manual). I just replaces it (and was worry that it is loose), but brush rotating fine. So your problem is somewhere else.

Hoover windtunnel t series belt is loose- roller brush doesnt turn.
Its brand new belt is slipping. we bough new belts and putthem on same problem. Can not find solutio in manual.
Is the belt supposed to go around the “metal pulley”. I know it goes around the little metal motor thing, then thru the guide and around the brush.
What is the metal pulley??? Is is the larger round silver thing between the guide and roller?
ANSWER : I also have a loose belt and have bought additional belts but have the same problem. I put the it around the metal rotor and around the brush roller a shown by he Hoover video, and it is loose.

Hoover bagless cannister 3765 – belt on power head slips off spindle. bought new belts – same problem. is this a design problem or can it be fixed? I don’t want to take it to a repair shop 100 miles away and have them just put on a new belt. saw idea of smaller belt – what number? couldn’t find suggested royal 104425001 belt.
ANSWER : I would not recommend a smaller belt. You will only wear the motor. This model series power nozzle needs to have a metal clip installed near the belt on the brush roller housing. I know that most of them left the factory without it. Remove the cover to see if one is ther. if not have your dealer send you a clip or a housing with one on it.
