If you have hard floors and want a time-saving, deep cleaning solution, a vacuum mop may be worth the investment. If you prefer a more eco-friendly, versatile, and budget-friendly option, a steam mop may be the way to go. Always check customer reviews and warranty information before making a final decision.
Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.

A good rule of thumb is to have your carpet professionally steam cleaned at least once a year, twice if you seem to track a lot of dirt in. This way you get a good, deep cleaning and don`t let the dirt build up. Vacuum once or twice a week to keep it clean in between your steam cleaning sessions.
Steam mops essentially employ steam to loosen grime, which the mop head then clears away, but there`s no suction element in this appliance. This means that surface dirt will need to be vacuumed or swept up before you begin or you`ll only succeed in pushing dirt across the house.
Vacuums typically do a better job than mops at reaching dirt in cracks and corners. This is especially important with grouted floors. Mops tend to glide over the surface and miss dirt in the grout lines. Vacuums are also better suited for dried snow and salt, which would liquefy under a mop and create a film.
For a deep carpet clean, nothing beats a steam cleaner. Steam cleaners lift dirt and grime embedded deep in the carpet pile through a mixture of hot water, carpet cleaner, and intense suction. They can also help with stain removal.
Steam cleaners are generally safe to use on any type of linoleum floor, ceramic or porcelain tile, and on some forms of hardwood and laminate flooring. Steam mops are not appropriate for many types of luxury vinyl planks due to the possibility of steam getting through the joints.
Sticky floors after steam mopping are often the result of residue from cleaning products that had been used on the floor. Using a dirty mop pad also can cause sticky floors.
Hot and cold will work equally well. A steam shower typically does not use enough water to need the hot water line.
Both adult bed bugs and bed bug eggs will die within minutes at 122°F (50°C). Steam forms from water at 212°F (100°C), so it`s already way over the killing point required to exterminate bed bugs immediately. Steam will kill pretty much any insect at that temperature.
The steam cooker works with a ring heater. Water is heated by it to produce steam. Foodstuffs cook in this steam. You don`t need any special connections for a steam cooker.
Preparing food using three tier steamers is quick and simple. Simply load up the different levels, turn on the heat and walk away, all on one burner. It`s also extremely versatile, so cooking for one is as easy as cooking for a small group. Because it uses only one burner, this is also a great tip for small kitchens.

ANSWER : I tried running vinegar through as you would a coffee pot to get rid of hard water scales. This did not work. Then I noticed that the light behind the shark decal on the front of the machine was going off and on. And sure enough as I moved the cord around the light would come off and on. Looking closer I could see the the heat had melted thru some of the cord.I bought mine at Target before xmas last year, throwing away the sales slip after several months so I guess there is nothing I can do about it.

After plugging in the steam mop, waiting for the 30 sec, pumping 12-15 times – no steam comes out. the tank is full and if i take off the bottom attachment the steam sprays everywhere. but the steam will not come out when mop head is on. thanks

I loved my Shark Steam Pocket Mop, but it suddenly stopped producing steam through the mop heads. The water is heating and I can see and hear steam coming out of the actually body of the mop, but it will not go through to the head. I have thought of running white vinegar through it. Do you have any suggestions?

Streaks on porcelein tile from shark steam mop
ANSWER : I have the same problem!!! its driving me nuts, i think its the microfibe pads that do it. I used the kenwood steam mop and it didnt have a microfibe cleaning pad on the bottom of it and it cleaned it perfectly, no streaks! because that blew up i have the monster mop and it streaks every time, i ended up wraping a bath towl around the base and mopping with that on it, dont know what else to do?

My Europro shark steam mop won’t steam, light on but no steam.
ANSWER : Hard water deposits. I ran some white vinegar through mine, like a coffee maker, and it worked for a while, but clogged again. So I unplugged it, let it cool and turned it over in the bathtub and squirted a small amount of Lime-Away into the hole where the steam comes out. Let it soak for 5- 10 minutes and it is working like is is brand new.
