The H2O HD works on all soft, hard and sealed floors, including Carpets & Rugs, Granite, Marble, Slate, Ceramic Tiles, Linoleum, Vinyl and Sealed Laminate & Sealed Hardwood. *Always consult the manufacturer`s cleaning instructions before using any steamer.
Steam is perfect for carpets, as it is often capable of delivering results without a reliance on caustic cleaning chemicals. Superheated steam is directed exactly where it is needed. And the latest steam cleaners use the optimum amount of water, ensuring your carpet isn`t completely drenched afterwards.
Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor.

How to Mop: Step Two. Fill a bucket with warm water (unless your floors are waxed; in this case, you should use tepid water) and a small amount of cleaner—generally, a squirt or two is sufficient. Using too much can leave behind a residue, which will make floors look dull.
Never leave a mop head sitting water overnight. This can weaken the mop fibers and encourage bacteria growth. Always rinse out the mop head when finished using and hang to dry. Then empty to the mop bucket and rinse out.
Although some carpet steamers and cleaners have a suction mechanism to remove the cleaning fluid and water from your carpet after cleaning the area, you should only use them for steaming or cleaning a carpet and never use them like a vacuum cleaner.
Some steam cleaners have a steam vacuum that is perfect for carpet cleaning. The vapor loosens dirt and the vacuum will simultaneously suck up all the loosened up debris making it a quick clean up.
Another tip: According to top brands like Bissell and Shark, you should use distilled or demineralized water to prolong the life of your steam mop.
If you have “hard” water, mineral deposits will most likely accumulate (eventually) in the machine and cause it to stop steaming. (Hard tap water is probably the #1 reason for premature failure in appliances that use water like steam irons, coffee makers, steam mops etc.).
So, where does the dirt go when you steam clean? Actually, it doesn`t go anywhere. Instead, the heat and vapour of steam cleaning ensure that all the unwanted substances or stains are fully broken down and easy to get rid of.
Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor. Always read the manual on your mop model thoroughly for complete use guidelines.

How do steam cleaners work? “Steam`s teeny-tiny vapor molecules penetrate a surface`s pores to force out dirt, grease, and other stain-causing substances,” says Donna Smallin Kuper, author of Cleaning Plain and Simple. The steam`s extreme heat also slays bacteria, germs, mold, dust mites, and more using plain water.

Shark Steam Mop – Gray/ Purple Vacuum: shark steam mop has water, but there is no steam….
ANSWER : I tried running vinegar through as you would a coffee pot to get rid of hard water scales. This did not work. Then I noticed that the light behind the shark decal on the front of the machine was going off and on. And sure enough as I moved the cord around the light would come off and on. Looking closer I could see the the heat had melted thru some of the cord.I bought mine at Target before xmas last year, throwing away the sales slip after several months so I guess there is nothing I can do about it.
